During these difficult times many people have become local heroes in their communities. Greg Dailey and his family from Mercer County, New Jersey have taken it into their own hands to help the vulnerable people that live in their community. Many elderly people are afraid to even walk outside because of the fear that they could contract COVID-19. Greg and his family realized that these people wouldn’t be able to safely go into grocery stores to buy food for themselves and they decided that they were going to take matters into their own hands and deliver groceries to anyone who needs it. This selfless act of kindness shows that throughout some of the most difficult times in most of our lives people can truly rise to the occasion and help others in need. I think that it is local heroes, like Greg and his family, who will help us get through this. I think that although these times are so tragic and difficult we really need to look to those people who are making the best of the situation and trying to help out others in need. Similar to Greg, Zellie Thomas has also taken it into his own hands to try to help the eldery in his community who are at high risk of contracting COVID-19. His organization has delivered over 800 meals along with groceries and supplies to elderly people in need. These huge acts of kindness show that we are all in this together and that if we fight this virus together, helping those in need, we will get through it. These local heroes are creating a stronger sense of community throughout their communities and are demonstrating to the rest of the world that there are some good things that can come out of this horrible situation. These people can serve as role models for everyone. They were not asked to help out the elderly by distributing meals, groceries, and supplies to them by anyone. They just decided to do it on their own. Their mission is to help protect the most vulnerable people of our population. One thing is for sure is that if we did not have people like the Dailey family and Zellie Thomas and his volunteers many people would be much worse off than they are now. I think that we all need to say thank you to Zellie, the Dailey family, and the countless other people all across America for the things they are doing during these trying times.
